Research Experience

During master’s degree study, I have completed thesis entitled “Support Vector Machine Based Part of Speech Tagging for Nepali text”. I have worked in the Natural language processing (NLP) research group of Computer Science Department of Tribhuvan University under the supervision of Prof. Tank Nath Dhamala (Head of Department) and Bikash Balami (Lecturer).

After Graduation, I was appointed as Teaching Assistant in the same department. I worked in the same research group and assist the student towards their master’s thesis research. I co-supervised few master’s thesis related to Natural language Processing and Machine learning (Supervised by different professors).
I worked in the research group headed by Asst. Prof. Rom Kant Pandey as a research member. This group got a research grant of two hundred thousand Nepali Rupees (approximately 20000 US dollar) form University Grant Commission (UGC) Nepal to conduct research on the proposal “Automated Nepali Handwritten Document Recognition Using Artificial Neural Networks”. We developed an algorithm and its implementation to digitize Nepali hand written document.

I have supervised many undergraduate final year project related to machine learning, recommendation system, question answering system for Nepali text, Text to speech system for Nepali Language (TTS) etc.

Currently I am working as a Asst. Prof. of Computer Science at Tribhuvan University and conduting teaching and research activities in the field of NLP and Machine Learning.
